Cook's Bay

Summary:
Cook’s Bay was not inhabited as a long-term mission, but was instead used periodically by the missionaries.
Description:

Cook’s Bay was not inhabited as a long-term mission, but was instead used periodically by the missionaries James MacNair (who arrived on Erromango in 1867 and died in 1870 of malaria), James Gordon, and the Robertsons. We documented the remains of the stone foundations of a mission building, which is also the burial place of two of the first converts from this area.
